Ingredients 1/2 medium green cabbage (about 10 ounces) 2 medium yellow onions 4 medium scallions 1/4 cup vegetable oil 8 ounces unsliced boneless, skinless pork belly or fatty pork loin 1 (1-inch) piece peeled ginger 1/4 cup Korean black bean paste (chunjang or jjajang) 1 tablespoon plus 1 1/2. This dish can be adjusted to be spicy by adding chiles with the vegetables, or by adding chili pepper flakes. Jjajangmyeon truly captures the spirit of Korean comfort food, and I’m so happy to be able to make it in the comfort of my own home. Frying the paste eliminates its bitter notes and allows the savory, sweet flavors to really shine. The key to making this dish is to fry the black bean paste in oil prior to mixing with the other sauce ingredients. It is also common to serve this sauce on a bed of rice to make jjajangbap (black bean rice), so I love to make a big batch and save some for another meal. I love the little bites of pork in this sauce, and the flavors go so well with the thick noodles. 2 It originated in Incheon, Korea where Chinese migrant workers started making zhajiangmian (noodles served with fried bean sauce) in the late 19th century. It is made with black bean paste, scallion oil, pork, cabbage, onion and water then thickened with a cornstarch slurry. Jajangmyeon ( ) or jjajangmyeon ( ) is a Korean-style Chinese noodle dish topped with a thick sauce made of chunjang, diced pork, and vegetables. The sauce is really what makes this whole dish. This dish definitely holds a special place in my heart and I’m so excited to share my rendition of it with you all. It is very common to order jjajangmyeon delivery to your house in Korea! I remember ordering jjajangmyeon with my family on those lazy days in and eating it with some kimchi and dumplings. ![]() It is made from a concentrated black bean paste called chunjang, which has a very savory and slightly sweet flavor. Spanish Verbs that Change Meaning Depending on the TenseĪt least 7 common verbs change meaning depending on which tense is being used. While she was working, her boss called her. Mientras ella trabajaba, su jefe la llamó. I was sunbathing when it started to rain. Whereas, if you were to say “I only fished once with my grandfather,” then you’d use the preterite tense to define the end of the activity: Pesqué solo una vez con mi abuelo.Īs we mentioned before, when combining these two tenses in a sentence, the preterite describes an interrupting action, while the imperfect describes the interrupted action. (I was doing this before without any clear indication that I no longer do it.) What Happened vs What Used to HappenĪ common way to translate the imperfect verb tense into English is to insert “used to,” implying that the action once happened on a recurring basis. (You were doing it that way and maybe still are.)Įvery week I ordered Chinese food. You cleaned the house so many times without using disinfectant. Limpiabas la casa tantas veces sin usar desinfectante. (She was teaching Spanish and could still be teaching it.) When I met her, she was teaching Spanish. It describes a past action that is still going on and doesn’t have a clear end. Now, let’s talk about the imperfect again. After a while, the intuitive sense you get about English grammar will come naturally as you speak Spanish. You’ll notice they all sound pretty strange, even in English. Take the examples above and try to replace the verb with the imperfect tense. Your daughter sang really well in her play. If you’re stuck with determining how strong your leader line should be, you might want to check out this post for more information. ![]() If you’re not sure what the exact purpose of a leader line is, check out my post on why you would want a leader line for more details. “It’s better to have it and not need it than need it The effort it takes to prepare a leader line is fairly low, and it makes for good practice, especially if you’re a novice. I lean towards the side of needing a leader line. On the other hand, there is always a risk that you could snag onto something when fishing and the point of a leader is to protect your main line from breaking. Since you’re fishing for really small fish, the chances of getting snagged on something is low, and the chances of a fish breaking your line are pretty small. I can see this topic being up for debate depending on who you talk to. If you want to learn more about how fishing lines can potentially cut your hands if you’re not careful, then check out my post on hand safety when handling fishing lines. The thinner line can act a bit like a cut which can cut into your hands when casting, pulling on a snagged line, or grabbing the line trying to land a thrashing fish. Since braided lines are much thinner in diameter than braid for the same line test it can potentially cut your hands. Braided lines can cut your hands if you’re not careful. But if you’re just starting out then I would not recommend paying the increased cost unless you’re sure this is something you want to do. Whenever you purchase braided lines there is always a cost increase which would be fine if you’re a serious angler. I don’t think its econmically smart to purchase braid just for this purpose unless you’re serious behind fishing. Plus the outside of braided lines are super smooth which is another contributing factor that makes tying knots harder.Ī solution can be using a stronger braided line to get the a similar line diameter as an 8 lb monofilament to make tying knots a bit easier but these lines are much more expensive. Because of the line diameter being much smaller than monofilament can make it harder to tie a knot if you’re just starting out with fishing. What exactly makes braided fishing lines so difficult to handle? Well glad that you asked here are my biggest concerns when using braided fishing lines: My main issue with braided fishing lines is that they are more difficult to handle and are less forgiving than monofilament, which can create some headaches for novice anglers. I have nothing against braided fishing lines, they are truly a great fishing line to use, but I have my reservations. If you’ve been researching fishing lines, you might have come across braided fishing lines before and heard how many experienced anglers recommend them. ![]() Why I Don’t Recommend Braided Fishing Line For Beginners ![]() Want to understand better which fishing lines will sink or float? Other changes to the Fluid include a 10mm increase in travel on both ends, with this all-aluminium platform now having 140mm up front and 130mm on the rear. Similarly, seat tube angles steepen across the sizes from 76° to 77.3°.
